Sustainable Environmental Investments

Great Menu Cover Eco Logo

MILWUAKEE, Wisconsin - April 2, 2018 – Great Menu Covers Announces Capital Reinvestments for Additional Environmentally Sustainable Improvements.

At the one-year anniversary of moving production and operations to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Great Menu Covers announced plans for capital reinvestment at the facility. These investments will both greatly reduce energy consumption while improving and expanding the company’s production capabilities.

The capital investment program includes investments to reduce energy consumption in both production and office spaces. This investment adds to existing efforts to utilize environmentally sustainable practices to minimize waste and repurpose scrap generated during production. The planned investments are expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 40% while providing an improved work environment for employees.

Other examples of Great Menu Covers’ sustainability efforts include recycling over 70% of scrap generated during production, donating surplus menus to local schools for students to use in restaurant menu graphic design projects, recycling shipping pallets, reusing incoming cardboard boxes for outbound shipment packaging, and donating binding core rolls to K12 classrooms for art projects. Through these and other initiatives Great Menu Products has reduced solid waste disposal by almost 75%.

Other capital investments planned for 2018 will bring new production equipment inhouse providing more flexibility in custom menu manufacturing and shorter lead-times. These investments will be bolstered by a newly designed employee training program. This new training program format will allow cross-trained employees to perform a wider variety of production processes to further increase manufacturing flexibility while reducing lead-times.

With these new investments, Great Menu Covers is positioned to build upon 35 years of production experience to bring new and exciting menu cover and accessory options to customers domestically and internationally.

Lt Governor Visits Great Menu Covers

MILWUAKEE, Wisconsin - January 30, 2018 – Wisconsin Lt. Governor Tours Great Menu Covers

As part of a tour of small businesses in Milwaukee, Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch visited Great Menu Covers’ facility. During her visit she learned about the wide variety of menu covers manufactured by the local workforce that are sold throughout the U.S. and other countries. As she stopped at various work stations, workers demonstrated the manufacturing processes used along with quality checks for ensuring finished products meet customer expectations.

Following the facility tour, she joined workers for lunch and answered questions about state government affairs and other issues. While at Great Menu Covers, the Lt. Governor met with the director of the Havenwoods Business Improvement District to discuss initiatives being used to support home ownership in the area. In addition to federal and state programs, Havenwoods coordinates a first homebuyer program to provide workers with the knowledge needed to successfully find and finance a home of their own. Great Menu Covers is enrolling in a complementary program that will provide its employees that are buying a home with thousands of dollars of private grant money for down payments and improvements.

Havenwoods Bid District This district is home to many industrial businesses and manufacturers, the state’s largest Asian Public Market and the Wisconsin Havenwoods State Forest. Funding for the relocation included loan programs from Town Bank and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. Great Menu Covers Invited as Panelist on Generational Workforce Discussion

Havenwoods The Engine Event

MILWUAKEE, Wisconsin - October 3, 2018 – Great Menu Covers Hosts Tour for Havenwoods EDC’s Engine Conference

Havenwoods Economic Development Corporation is presenting the ENGINE Conference October 3-6, 2017. This event connects residents, employees and employers to one another using seminars, luncheons and tours. As part of the conference, Great Menu Covers was invited to be a panelist at the luncheon to share best practices and innovative approaches to attracting the next generation of talented workers.

With a workforce spanning a full range of generations of workers, Great Menu Covers was able to share insights into firsthand experiences in creating a welcoming and respectful environment for workers. One aspect is a company-paid luncheon each month to update workers on company performance, marketing efforts and planned capital investments to improve productivity and performance. In addition to these company updates, time is set aside allowing workers to socialize while enjoying lunch. The meetings end with a competitive game period where employees try their luck at a game setup during lunch. These games have included indoor miniature golf in hallways, paper airplane gliding competitions and many other challenges dreamed up by a worker or supervisor. Game winners receive retail gift cards or other items to recognize their victory.

Great Menu Covers designed a small custom commemorative Café menu cover for the luncheon event. The menu binding color was matched to the event’s branding color scheme and a grommet was added for conference guests to wear with a lanyard as a nametag during the event.

Great Menu Covers also hosted a young professional tour group during the week that visited five employers in the Havenwoods District. The tour started and ended at Great Menu Covers which served tour members snacks and beverages before and after the tour bus trip. Product samples and the company’s promotional luggage tag were given to tour members as mementos of the day’s events.

SUSSEX, Wisconsin - November 14, 2011 – Great Menu Covers announced today their internet Menu Cover store www.GreatMenuCovers.com is now offering an industry leading
15 different colors of Café Style Menu Covers. These new colors allow restaurant owners to match their Menu Covers with their overall interior color schemes.

“For years restaurants have settled with the few color options available. For restaurants often in competitive environments needing to be memorable to guests, settling for a limited color selection shortchanges their brand. Since the first thing most customers touch is the menu, a wider selection of colors allows restaurants to carry their branded colors to every part of their business.” Along with the 15 color options, customers can mix and match different color metallic corners. Protecting the Menu has always been critical to a restaurant's image and success, and now it can be accomplished with style.
